Derby Day Racing is proud to present it’s video handicapping content. With all of these videos, our goal is to provide insight into handicapping, ticket structure, and how to best capitalize on your opinions to create winning wagers.
In this first video, I will take a swing at Tampa Bay Downs’ Late Pick 5 on Saturday. This sequence includes a Kentucky Derby prep race in the Grade 3 Sam F. Davis, the return of the Eclipse Award winner World Approval in the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Stakes and eight fillies and mares competing in the Grade 3 Endeavor. World Approval looks unbeatable, so I’ll take some swings with longer odds in the other legs of the Pick 5, hoping to cash a ticket in the $1,000 – $2,000 range.
For those new to the Pick 5 – you must correctly pick the winning horse in five straight races. For those that bet on sports, it is similar to a parlay bet, so all bets have to be winning ones to cash. For this reason, I generally play between 100 to 300 combinations and at a base of 50-cents, the bet will cost $50 to $150.
I hope you enjoy the video and return to Derby Day Racing often for all things horse racing.
