Along the road to Kentucky Derby 2018, the Top 10 rankings reflect the performances of the 3-year-olds in the prep races. Now that the Derby is only two weekends away and the field is set, the Derby Day Racing staff has changed the emphasis of our Top 10 lists.

This week our team of experts ranked the horses with an eye on our betting interests in the Run for the Roses. Even though Justify is highly ranked according to his very impressive performance in the Santa Anita, is trained by the four-time Derby winning Hall of Famer Bob Baffert, and is expected to be the favorite on the first Saturday in May; you see that he is not on top of our latest list. Justify has big challenges ahead of him, especially with only three career starts.

Remember that the Kentucky Derby is unique in American racing with its 20-horse field. That enormous field provides a once a year opportunity to get unusually large wagering results especially if the favorite does not win the race.

Essentially this new Top 10 list cuts the Derby field of 20 in half for the purpose of developing a wagering scheme on May 5. The Derby Day Racing team feels that these are the 10 horses that most need to be considered in your wagers.
