The first Derby Day Racing gathering happened on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning at the barn of trainer Buff Bradley with the iconic twin spires of Churchill Downs in the background. Current and prospective partners from several states in the East and Midwest arrived early for coffee and donuts and received Derby Day Racing caps.

Led by Derby Day Racing Managing Partner Brian Zipse, the group got to see the inner workings of a successful thoroughbred racing business and heard presentations by Bradley and Bloodstock Agent Josh Stevens.

Everybody also met the equine members of the barn, including recent allowance race winner Divine Queen and some promising 2-year-olds by Creative Cause, Goldencents, and Quality Road. The DDR folks gave the horses lots of attention and plenty of peppermints, too.

We lined up along the rail of the backstretch to watch morning workouts and when all of the horses were settled down in their stalls, the tour continued in the barn where feed tubs were being filled and the shedrow was being tidied.

As a partner in Derby Day Racing and a thoroughbred owner, you will have access to the barn any morning for training and, of course when the horses run, the paddock and winner’s circle, too. There are still partnership opportunities available. Contact information can be found on the DDR website or by calling Brian at (708) 601-4364.
