The team at Derby Day Racing has put together their first Top 10 list of contenders for the 2019 Kentucky Derby.

Two-year-old champion and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile victor Game Winner was the consensus number one pick after being the top choice by all but one of the voters. The son of Candy Ride, who is the only horse to win two Derby qualifying races, leads the points standings with 30. Improbable received the other number one vote. Both Game Winner and Improbable are from the barn of two-time Triple Crown winning trainer Bob Baffert.

While neither of those two horses has run yet this year, War of Will, the recent winner of the LeComte Stakes at Fair Grounds race track, impressed Derby Day Racing voters and took the third spot on the list.

“War of Will was nowhere near my Top 10 last week, but that performance in the LeComte, his first try on a fast main track, was awfully impressive,” said DDR’s Managing Partner Brian Zipse. “I can see why trainer Mark Casse is so high on him.”

Tony Bada Bing added, “Among the early 2019 runners War of Will was most impressive – visually and speed figure wise.”

Game Winner is expected to make his 2019 debut in the San Felipe (G2) at Santa Anita on March 9 while Improbable may go to Oaklawn Park for his return to racing on March 16 in the Rebel Stakes (G2).
