Derby Day Racing is thrilled to have two-time Breeders’ Cup winning trainer Buff Bradley as our lead trainer. A longtime horseman, he worked on his father Fred’s farm at a young age. After serving as an assistant to Clarence Picou for four years, Buff went out on his own as a trainer in 1993. Ever since, Buff has become known for his development of young horses into racing stars. Tops of that list include: two-time Eclipse Award winner, Groupie Doll, $2.17 million earner, Brass Hat, and multiple Grade 1 winner, Divisidero.

An important element of the Bradley operation is his training center, located at his family-run and horse friendly farm in Kentucky. Known for success with homebreds, Buff  also specializes in developing young horses purchased at auction, often turning bargain purchased prospects into stakes horses.

Besides training duties, Buff will assist Derby Day Racing with the selection of young prospects, as well as the boarding and care of our horses while not in training.
